The City of Malmö is the project coordinator and thus responsible for the overall management of the project, i.e. a responsibility for all activities, works and information management as well as financial aspects. A project manager has been appointed by the City of Malmö who is in charge of all the daily activities.
By the nature of the Buildsmart project, with a portfolio of closely connected activities, each participating country has appointed a local project coordinator. Their role is to assist the coordinator and project manager in the day-to-day management of the project on a local scale.
In addition, each work package (WP) is managed and chaired by a WP leader. The WP leader supports the coordinator in regards of work achievement, status reports and deliverables.

Supervisory Committee: A project Supervisory Committee comprising senior representatives of the partners in the consortium will provide overall technical and financial planning and control. The committee meets when required by one or more of the participants, e.g in the case of difficulties. The Supervisory Committee also has authority to re-orient the project. The Supervisory Committee has the possibility to withdraw a partner if it appears the partner does co-operate inconsistently or does not involve expected resources in regards of its project tasks or its funding level. Introduction of new partners as well as budget redirections outside the boundaries of the financial structure is subject to approval from the Supervisory committee.
General Assembly: It consists of representatives of all participants in the project and meets twice a year. Decisions regarding the introduction of new work packages within the boundaries of the overall financial structure will be taken by the general assembly during the regular progress meetings.
All project partners are members of the Supervisory Committee and the General Assembly.
